Psalm 122
“I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD!”
Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.
Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together.
To it the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD.
For there the thrones for judgment were set up, the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you.
Peace be within your walls, and security within your towers.”
For the sake of my relatives and friends I will say, “Peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.”
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” says the Psalmist. As we consider the plight of the world today and the unwillingness of those who oppose Jerusalem and Yahweh we know that the world has stood in opposition to what God has called us to do and to love. We should not be deterred in our faith and our beliefs. God is faithful and so too we must be faithful. In the midst of great tragedy there is great strength and comfort. Seek God’s strength and God’s comfort and you will find a solace that has no peer. We will attain God’s peace within our hearts and souls.
Prayer: Father we thank You for today. We thank You for Jesus Christ. We thank You for redemption and restoration. Help us to seek You in all our ways and paths. Help us gain that inner peace that only You can give. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
